The ADA has produced a new brochure that describes the education and training required to be a dentist. Dentists: Doctors of Oral Health seeks to inform the consumer, policymakers and the media about the complexity of dental treatment, the dentist’s unique ability to deliver that treatment safely and the education and training needed to become a dentist.

Your American Dental Association turns 150 years old this year, and it’s in very good health for its age. With 157,000 members, the ADA represents more than 70 percent of U.S. dentists, making it the world’s largest and oldest national dental association—America’s leading advocate for oral health.
To celebrate the sesquicentennial year to its fullest, the ADA is planning special projects and events, and this Sesquicentennial Celebration page is the place to find out the details.
The year-long observance kicked off last fall at the Association’s 149th annual session in San Antonio and will culminate at the 150th annual session in Hawaii in October.
