The ADA's Publishing Division produces the Association's major publications, including The Journal of the American Dental Association and the ADA News. The Division is also responsible for the ADA.org Web site—including content development, advertising and sponsorship—and for overseeing the distribution of e-mail-based publications targeted to specific segments of the dental population.

The mission of the Publishing Division is to produce and distribute, at a profit, credible, high quality publications that enhance the ADA’s image and inform the dental profession about the latest scientific, socioeconomic and political issues affecting oral health care. Current publications and products include:

Publishing Division Online

Established in 1997 as a section of ADA.org, the Publishing content on the Web includes: ADA News Today, which provides daily dental news including full text stories from the print version of the ADA News; JADA Online, which offers the full text of all articles in The Journal of the American Dental Association from 1995 to present; classified ads; the online ADA News Convention Daily; and the Dental Buying Guide.

The Journal of the American Dental Association

Established in 1913, JADA is the ADA's premier publication and a benefit of membership. Published monthly, its overall mission is to promote the practice and science of dentistry by providing dentists with information they can use to improve the delivery of dental care. E-mail for JADA can be sent online. Special theme issues of JADA are also published as supplements.

ADA News

The ADA News provides information on socioeconomic and political developments affecting dentistry while highlighting ADA services to its membership. The ADA News was introduced in 1970 and is published 22 times a year as a member benefit. An index to ADA News articles is available online. E-mail for ADA News can be sent online.

ADA News Convention Daily

The ADA News Convention Daily is produced each year on four consecutive days during the ADA annual session. The ADA News Convention Daily provides news and features on daily events during session.

JADA Foreign Language Editions

ADA Official Guide

The Official Guide, which is an annual spin-off from JADA's June convention issue, is designed to be a comprehensive member resource highlighting services provided by the ADA for those who attend annual session. It also includes a directory of exhibitor products and services that will appear at the meeting. The Guide is distributed free of charge to all attendees at annual session.

JADA Continuing Education Home Study Program

Launched in 1995 as a cooperative venture with the University of Colorado dental school. To increase participation, a reward system was introduced in 1997 offering dentists a certificate for earning a specified number of credits in a given year. Electronic test submission, payment and grading is available online.
